Dr. Louise McNaughton-Filion, Regional Supervising Coroner for the East Region in Ottawa, has confirmed the scheduled date for the inquest into the deaths of Judy Booth, Bruce Thomlinson, and Anthonia Van Beek. Proceedings will commence at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, with Dr. McNaughton-Filion presiding. Peter Napier and Alessandra Hollands will serve as inquest counsel.
Ms. Booth, 57, Mr. Thomlinson, 56, and Ms. Van Beek, 65, lost their lives on January 11, 2019, due to injuries sustained when a public transit bus crashed at an Ottawa transit station.
The inquest will explore the circumstances surrounding their deaths, and the jury may provide recommendations aimed at preventing similar tragedies in the future.
The proceedings are expected to span 21 days and will include testimony from approximately 15 witnesses.
