Linamar Corporation Expansion to Create 2,300 New Jobs Across the Province

GUELPH – Ontario is welcoming a $1 billion investment from Linamar Corporation, a leading auto parts manufacturer, to expand its operations across the province. This major initiative is set to generate more than 2,300 high-quality jobs, reinforcing Ontario’s position as a hub for automotive innovation and electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing.

“Linamar’s investment is a major win for Ontario’s economy and workers,” said Premier Doug Ford. “With uncertainties around tariffs and trade policies in the U.S., this expansion will strengthen our local EV supply chain and ensure that the next generation of vehicles is built right here, by Ontario workers.”

Headquartered in Guelph, Linamar’s expansion will focus on producing key automotive components, including advanced powertrain solutions for hybrid and electric vehicles. The investment will also drive innovations in semiconductor packaging for EV batteries, improving vehicle efficiency, extending range, and reducing charging times.

The company plans to scale up production of eAxle systems, an essential part of modern electric and hybrid vehicle powertrains. Additionally, the expansion will support the development of hydrogen fuel cell and battery storage technologies, further advancing Ontario’s role in the green transportation industry.

To support this investment, Ontario is providing more than $100 million through Invest Ontario, the province’s investment attraction agency.

“Our government is committed to making Ontario a top destination for innovation and business growth,” said Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. “Linamar’s expansion will not only create thousands of well-paying jobs but also boost Ontario’s leadership in EV technology and manufacturing.”

Linda Hasenfratz, Executive Chair of Linamar Corporation, emphasized the company’s dedication to innovation. “Linamar is committed to developing cutting-edge mobility solutions across all propulsion types. This investment, supported by both federal and provincial governments, ensures that Ontario remains at the forefront of the evolving global auto industry.”

Ontario’s automotive sector has been a cornerstone of the province’s economy, driving growth, innovation, and job creation. Since 2020, Ontario has secured over $46 billion in investments from automakers and EV component suppliers, solidifying its position as a global leader in next-generation vehicle production.
